Karachi: October 19, 2007 - The security lapse has come open after attack on Benazir Bhuto, an ex Prime Minister of Pakistan who returned to her country after eight years of self exile, even though she remained unhurt. But the authorities are confused how the lapse had happened in which more than 135 died and around 550 injured?
Even though Benazir Bhutto is all right, no hurt of any kind, but her lakhs of fans have created a history in Karachi, they got terrible angry on this slip due to Government slackness and there is every apprehension of some sort of political clashes in due course.
The government is of the opinion that it was a suicide attack but Bhutto has openly blamed intelligence agencies like ISI and IB.
President Pervez Musharaf, on the other hand, has directed to submit report to him within 48 hours how the high security lapse happened in spite of such a huge arrangement of protection. (IR Summary).
News/Report, NDTV : Soon after the blasts, Bhutto's husband Asif Zardari also pinned the blame on the country's intelligence agencies while the Pakistan People's Party said it will file police complaints.
And after a meeting with their leader at Bilawal House, where she is staying after the attacks, the party members blamed the ruling PML(Q).
''This is an act of terrorism, not done by any terrorist but an act of terrorism done by the government,'' said Nabeel Gabool, member, Pakistan People's Party.
Others say Musharraf is to blame for the blasts which rocked the city in the wee hours on Friday.
''We thought that space had been created for politics in Pakistan. But this incident has proved that the dictatorship has firmly entrenched in Pakistan and they don't want any political activity,'' said Sardar Rahim, Spokesperson, Pakistan Muslim League (N).
