Rishi Kapoor’s son Ranbir Kapoor enters debut in Saawariya

Mumbai: October 18, 2007 -  Rishi Kapoor is a proud father, his son Ranbir Kapoor is making his debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Isaawariya, anxiously awaited film of the year.

Rishi Kapoor is the son of Raj Kapoor and grand son of Prithvi Raj Kapoor,and Ranbir shall be the great grand son of Prithvi Raj Kapoor, whose collective outstanding contributions to the film industry shall always remain at the top.

On the occasion of the debut of his son, Rishi Kapoor said, "I am very happy that I am associated with a family that has stayed connected to the Indian film industry for the past 80 years.

Rishi Kapoor thanked the fans of the Kapoor family for their continued support for so long and took a pride privilege of introducing the newest member of his family. He said, “It is my son Ranbir.”

Rishi Kapoor expressed hope that his son shall prove up to the  mark and expectations of the film goers with his debut appearance on the silver screen and sought for their support and blessings to him.

"I am very happy and proud that another member of our family is making his mark in the film industry. I pray to God and also appeal to the audience that they accept him and give him their love and support. I hope he carves a niche through hard work and dedication," said his uncle, Rajeev Kapoor.

Ranbir is making his cinematic debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ISaawariya, which is being touted as one of the most eagerly, awaited films of 2007.

Ranbir said he was honored to have debuted in Saawariya.

"The honor and respect is awesome. I promise you that I will strive to work harder so that you can always say I was worthy of this debut," he said. (IR Summary).

Said to be inspired from Dostoevsky's short story 'White Nights', Saawariya is an intense tale of two young star-crossed lovers from different religions.

Bhansali has raised expectations by saying that the film has a special allure as per agency reports.
