How shameful!
The Director was provoked on her failure to express rightly and slapped her in a rage without thinking that such steps could destroy his own career.
The Tamil Film Producers Council, Nadigar Sangam and Film Federation of South India banned Tamil Director Samy, from making films for one year for lowering the reputation of the Tamil Film Industry. (IR Summary).
Report from rediff.com:
Amid all the hullabaloo, Padmapriya, a former risk consultant with General Electric tells rediff.com about the incident that she will never forget.
You said earlier that though you missed being in front of the computer for 17 hours a day, you loved being a part of the film industry. Has what happened on the sets of Mirugam changed your opinion of the film industry?
In the first five minutes after it happened, yes. After that, no. That is because I never have had any problems with anybody else so far. This is the first time something like this has happened to me, so I shouldn't condemn the entire industry. It is a one-off incident, as per Text by Shobha Warrier.
