Two arrested in case of Blast at Ajmer Dargah

Ajmer: October 12, 2007 - (IR Summary)- Two persons from Bangladesh are reported to have been arrested in connection with Thursday's blast at the Ajmer Dargah, wherein 2 persons were killed and 17 injured. The blast had taken place at about 6:15 p.m., when people were getting ready to break their daylong fast, observed during the holy month of Ramzan. The attack came on the eve of Juma't Al'Vida, the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramzan.
During the investigations, some solid proof has since been recovered. However, a sketch of suspects may be released soon for public appraisal. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Government has announced a compensation for the blast victims.
The compensation shall be Rupees five lakh for the nearest kin of the dead, and Rupees one lakh for those who were injured during the incident. The Union Home Ministry termed the blast as a terror attack. Officials of the Ministry said that a 'general advisory' was already issued in view of the festivals that are round the corner and the Rajasthan Government had taken necessary precautions.
According to eyewitnesses, the bomb was placed in a polythene bag and kept near a tree in the Dargah compound. There were approximately 5000 people inside the shrine complex at the time of blast.
