New Delhi: October 7, 2007- The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) President, H.D. Deve Gowda, is frustrated over the point of withdrawal of support by the BJP, he had all the hopes that his logic could convince BJP.

Mr. H.D.Deve Gowda, has perhaps forgotten that even in politics, which is called ‘Game of Scoundrels” carries weight to their word and a specific type of honor is attached to it and whenever and wherever a politician breaks it, the unity of his or her party breaks, the party strength reduces, overall reputation declines, the regional or national political image becomes a thin veil.

Mr. H.D.Deve Gowda has no other option now to save his face but to make use of some old dialogues, so he said on Saturday that his party favored fresh elections in Karnataka and ruled out any alliance with the Congress to continue in power or to go with BJP with any sort of understanding in future.

Now the issue of convening a meeting of the Assembly on 18th October by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy looks to have become in fructuous. In short, the circumstances suggest that Mr. H.D.Deve Gowda and his son both have lost the game in lust of power greed. (IR Summary).

Asked  whether the snapping of ties with the BJP was intended to regain the secular credentials, Mr. Gowda retorted that the party already had its secular credentials and this was proved beyond doubt by the results of the recent civic polls in the State.

“Minorities, the middle class, dalits and other sections have all voted for us [in the civic polls]. They are all with us… The JD(S) will get a clear majority in the next election.”

A resolution adopted at the meeting of the extended PAC noted that Chief Minister Kumaraswamy crushed with an iron hand attempts by the BJP’s sister organizations in the Sangh Parivar to whip up communal frenzy in the State.

Although Mr. Deve Gowda wrote to the BJP top brass drawing their attention to these attempts to vitiate the atmosphere, the BJP leaders did not even show the basic courtesy to respond to his communications.
It said Mr. Kumaraswamy adopted a patient approach so as not to be seen as abdicating his commitment to the agreement reached between the two parties.
