New York, September 25, 2007 - In the heart of New York's busiest bus station commuters are stopping in their tracks to take a look at the replica of the Taj Mahal. The streets of New York have literally been taken over by brand India in a four daylong celebration called Incredible India@60.

Globally famous sand artist Sudharsan Patnaik created the Taj by using over 1500 bags of sand brought from all over America. While Mumtaz Mahal was the inspiration of the Taj, Sudarsan's inspiration is simple.

''My inspiration is the sand. Shah Jahan had a dream to make a black Taj Mahal. We did that in Agra. Since then I have had a dream to build sand Taj Mahals all over the world. I am now planning the next one in London,'' said Sudharsan.

Over a million commuters pass through the port authority daily. As they stop to soak in the beautiful sculpture, they brush up their general knowledge about one of the seven wonders of the world.

The replica took 22 hours to make and the impact on the viewer was that of complete amazement
