Srinagar – There was a definite plan from a section of some militant group to assassinate Manmohan Singh, India’s Prime Minister, who was to visit Jammu and Kashmir hours after. Before the rebels, who had come over there most probably to assassinate the Prime Minister, were surrounded in the building by the security forces where they were hiding and planning to assassinate the Prime Minister.
While Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was to visit Jammu and Kashmir, Just hours after, two rebels, who were suspected separatists or belonging to some terrorist group took the position near the stadium where he was to deliver his speech on Wednesday. They came out with an open gun battle, when the security forces got suspicion about them. The troops, however, surrounded the building where they had taken up the position, it was just 200 meters away from Sher-e-Kashmir stadium where the Prime Minister was scheduled to address a public meeting.
It was a commercial complex where they were hiding and were well equipped. They were challenged by the Security forces and in a heavy exchange of fire with security forces they were killed.
According to the sources near the Prime Minister, who said in anonymity that the firing continued for four hours and it saved the life of India’s Prime Minister. It was a clear attempt of assassinating the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, which the security forces successfully thwarted, he said. In this battle, two jawans and a civilian were injured. This information had come to the Security forces from the Intelligence, who clicked in time.
