Post 'Aag', Ramu may make one more underworld thriller
MIL/Agencies, Sep 11, 2007.
Mumbai, September 11, 2007 - Critics panned his two back-to-back releases - "Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag" and "Darling" - but never-say-die director Ram Gopal Varma is unfazed and set to start his next venture which will trace the evolution of underworld.
The decision was taken last week and Varma is ready to roll it by the beginning of November.
Revealing his plans, Varma told IANS: "The film has a tongue twisting title, 'Dheyaya'. It's a Sanskrit word for mission. I wanted an unused word to express what the film sets out to achieve.
"It'll be a realistic gritty dark film about the link between the underworld and various legitimate and illegitimate terrorist organisations. I want to trace the evolution of underworld to where it stands today."
He says with time, the underworld too has grown.
"The underworld started in the 1980s with smuggling then graduated to extortion and contract killings. Today, terrorist organisations are using criminal networks as conduits for their operations. That's the scenario 'Dheyaya' will portray."
There will be not a single known face in the film.
"I want newcomers because I want the actors to not have any pre-conceived images. But in terms of money, it will be a big-budget film."
