Microsoft would formulate its software in 14 different Indian languages within 1 year and would provide employment to over thousand Indians. Steve Ballmer, the Microsoft CEO revealed this plan of his company to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday.
Ballmer, however, stressed that it is the time for India to increase the capacity of its computer penetration in their country.
"The first thing on the Prime Minister's mind was to support for all Indian languages in the computer software that the people use.” Ballmer said that he had updated the Prime Minister particularly on 'Project Bhasha' to bring MS Windows and Office in 14 Indian languages by the next year.
While speaking his mind on the poor PC penetration in India, he said:
"The government needs to get more computers for more people. We also feel that the government can do a lot to stimulate IT economy in India since India still lags somewhat in investment in computerization for its own purposes even though providing IT services to the world.” “Microsoft will hire the services of hundreds of software engineers in India this year,” he said.
