Arafat is dead, funeral in Cairo

MIL, Nov 11, 2004

Paris - Yasar Arafat died on Tuesday, though this news was suppressed by the French Doctors, who were trying to revive his heart but failed. It is reported that Palestinian President is no more. Still some of the Palestinian officials refuse to admit this truth, they claim that Arafat is still alive.

The Palestinian officials are making public announcement that Arafat is still alive, though several aides had said privately that he died on Tuesday. The French doctors have not said publicly what illness Arafat was suffering from but at the same time they did not deny the news of his death on Tuesday.

Many Israelis do not like Arafat after several years of conflict in the Middle East but Palestinians look upon Arafat as a symbol of the struggle for an independent Palestinian state.

It is reported that necessary arrangements were being made on Wednesday for a funeral in Cairo and burial at his West Bank headquarters.

According to Indian Express, the earth-moving equipment are set to work digging up the grounds of Arafat's shell-shattered compound in Ramallah, which may turn into a shrine to the icon of Palestinian nationalism.
