Pak Army facing serious problems against terrorists in Lal Masjid
MIL/Agencies, Jul 9, 2007.
Islamabad, Pakistan: July 09, 2007 (Monday) - As per unconfirmed sources, the confrontation between the radical Islamic students and the Pak troops claimed hundreds of lives in an overnight assault. The number of casualties cannot be confirmed in the state of gunfires going on from both sides.
As per reports, irregular gunfire erupted again on this morning as President Gen. Pervez Musharraf called a high-level meeting to discuss the solution of the siege.
President Gen. Pervez Musharraf had sent special trained troops on Wednesday, after the supporters of the mosque's radical clerics fought gunbattles with security forces. The battle is reported to be of Taliban-style rule, which the Pak Govt. wants to crush.
Since innocent women and children are serving as shield to the radical Islamic students, this has made the task more difficult for the Army troops and the security forces.
As per the previously confirmed number of casualties, minimum 25 people have died so far, including a Colonol, Special Forces commando, who was shot as the military blasted holes in the walls of the fortified compound.
However, the Pak Army local Commander said, “There are hundreds of innocent people allegedly being held hostage in the mosque and the hole/gap that they have created for them, should help them to escape therefrom.
