Islamabad, Pakistan: July 08, 2007 (Sunday) – Despite warning by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Saturday to hardcore Islamic Students to come out of the lal Masjid and surrender, failing which they would be killed, there seems to have no effect of his warning on these militants.

They killed Colonel Haroon Islam, a senior Pak Army Officer, today during fierce fighting with troops on the sixth day of siege.  He was leading an operation to help women and children to be free from the clutches of the militants.

There is also another report disclosing that the militants had also injured another  Information Minister Mohammad Ali Durrani disclosed to AFP that Rashid Ghazi and his militants were responsible for the murder of Col. Haroon Islam but emphasized that the operation would continue till Ghazi surrenders.  

Pakistani forces have held back from raiding the now bullet-pocked mosque but there have intense clashes around the perimeter.
Security forces blew up sections of the compound wall during the night and there were further intense exchanges of fire, a security official said early Sunday.

“Security forces dynamited the wall to allow people inside to come out if they want to,” he told AFP. Militant leader Ghazi said Pakistani forces had killed 30 female and 40 male students in the siege. The women were buried at the site, he said.

As per the latest information, the Pak Army is adamant and sure that they would be able to rescue the innocent women and children very soon and would get Rashid Ghazi and his militant companions either surrendered or they would be killed.
