PM to elucidate top BJP leaders and others on the status of talks with Pakistan: August 7, 2013, News n Analysis by Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist, on the issue of talks with Pakistan in view of a sudden violation of LOC Killings, in which 5 jawans were killed and that stormed both houses of Parliament. What would you like to say about it?
In wake of the attacking news on India by Pakistan, in which 5 Indian Jawans were killed, the Prime Minister invited BJP parliamentary party chairman L K Advani, along with Party President Rajnath Singh among other Leaders of Opposition to explain the factual position and to give his view on talks with Pakistan. The meeting is also likely to be attended by Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley among others.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh shall explain in detail the circumstances and the incident and the status of talks with Pakistan. External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon shall also be present in the meet.
In response to cancel the talks with Pakistan as demanded by BJP and others on Tuesday, Mr. Singh shall explain to the opposition leaders that the talks with Pakistan might not be dropped at this stage with Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the situation being different and not the one as being visualized. The meeting has already been fixed with Sharif and is expected by the end-September on the margins of the UN General Assembly.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh shall explain on Wednesday evening the whole affairs including the LoC killings with Mr. Sharif, the reasons and consequences of his proposed meeting.
Mr. Singh shall ensure to Opposition during his meeting that the talks with Pakistan shall depend on their seriousness and response.
The Prime Minister may like to clarify to the Opposition that though infiltration attempts have increased in the past, the incident and levels of violence have come down along the LoC.
The PM is likely to ensure that talks shall only progress if Pakistan reciprocate in the right spirit and assure proper action on the terror front. Will Opposition be satisfied?
