MIL/Agencies, Jul 4, 2007.

New Delhi: July 04, 2007 (Wednesday) – After passing through serious  controversies and withdrawals of other candidates, the direct passage is cleared for a straight fight between UPA-Left nominee Pratibha Patil and NDA-backed Independent Bhairon Singh Shekhawat for the post of office of the President.

The polling  shall begin on July 19 from 10 AM to 5 PM and counting shall take place on July 21 in Parliament House.

Four sets of nomination papers of Patil and two sets of Shekhawat's have already been found correct in all respects by Lok Sabha Secretary General P D T Achary. So far other nomination papers are concerned, which were filed by other candidates, have been rejected.
