Chennai: June 28, 2007 - An assistant film director has moved a civil court here seeking to stop screening of Rajnikant-starrer 'Sivaji - the boss', which is running to full houses since its release on June 15 last, claiming that the movie was based on a story which he had written.
When the petition came up for hearing, the fifth city civil court issued notice to the film's director Shankar and three others and posted it for hearing next week.
The complainant Sudalai K Jayarajadevan claimed that he had written story for the movie and that he had met Shankar's manager in 2005 and discussed the script with him and some other persons involved in the film industry.
He said later when he tried to contact the manager, he evaded him.
However, he finally managed to meet the manager and he promised a meeting between him and the director. The meeting did not materialise as the manager did not show up, he said.
To his surprise, he said, he learnt that his story was used for the movie titled 'Sivaji'. On June 6 last he contacted the director's office and was told that he was away in Canada.
Claiming that if screening of the movie was not stopped he would be put to irreparable loss, inconvenience and hardship, he sought an injunction to restrain the screening of the movie till disposal of his suit.
