June 21, 2007 (Thurday)- A strong rumor in Bollywood is catching momentum  since Tuesday that Bollywood has a big news in store for the Rani Mukherjee’s millions of fans, that she looks to have decided to be engaged with some lucky guy despite her denial and the rebuff on the other side of the guy with whom the rumor is attached.

Sending shock waves (to those who were not aware) across the nation, the unconfirmed reports of the engagement of Bollywood’s reigning queen with ace filmmaker Aditya Chopra became the most-talked about subject.

Suddenly, people forgot all about Abhi-Ash’s post marriage appearances and became hungry for latest gossip about the newly found alliance. However, in this case the rumours were not restricted to their engagement, they also hinted at rifts between Yash Chopra and his son over this alliance.

According to reports, the patriarch of Chopra clan was not happy over Aditya’s divorce with his wife Payal, who is believed to be still very close with both Yash and Pamela Chopra.

While all this kept many phones engaged, those supposedly in the thick of things have begun their attempts of denials.

DT spoke to a few people close enough to the couple in question..
 
Raja Mukherji, Rani's brother: "Are you mad? What engagement? These are just rumours. Rani is busy shooting for Pradeep Sarkar's Laga Chunari Mein Daag . Actually we're hearing all this for the first time from you. It's shocking. Ma and Baba are sitting with me here, and they are shocked too."
Kirron Kher: "The rumours say that I and Anupam have attended the roka ceremony. The fact is Sikander is down with tonsilitis, and all day I have attended only to him. Anupam is still shooting. I don't think even the gentleman in question is aware that he's engaged. Have you told him yet?

Uday Chopra, Aditya's brother: "What rubbish. This is the first time I am hearing about this. Poor Adi. He's already been through so much. Where is all this coming from?"

Sabyasachi Mukherjee, costume designer for Laga Chunari Mein Daag : "What? Who got engaged? Rani? Are you joking? No, this is just a rumor. I have been with her all day long and she never told me anything." Monica Bhattacharya, spokesperson Yash Raj: "The family knows about this rumor and they are very calm about it. Why react to something that is not true?"

Pradeep Sarkar: "What rubbish! No engagement has happened. I was with Rani the whole day. So when did she get engaged?"
And so, we left many in Bollywood in a tizzy over this buzz.
