How Chinese Premier reacted on the border tension, water sharing and trade deficits?
In response to concerns of the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh which he had expressed on Sunday on different issues including border intrusion by China in Ladakh, water sharing and trade balance, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang pledged on Monday vowed to build trust with India and declared that ties between the Asian giants werethe key to world peace and that was the reason that he visited New Delhi only weeks after a border row.
Speaking alongside his counterpart Manmohan Singh, Li said China wanted to increase cooperation with India, saying his choice of destination for his first foreign visit showed the importance that Beijing attached to ties with Delhi.
“The purpose of my current visit to India is three-fold: to increase mutual trust, to intensify cooperation and to face the future.”
“On the basis of deeper mutual trust, our two countries can further strengthen mutual understanding and construct a new type of relations between major countries, promote healthy and sound development of China and India.
“That will be a true blessing for Asia and the world.”
No doubt, Li did not specifically indicate about the border dispute, he emphasized on the issue of cooperation which is absolutely necessary between the world’s two most populous nations, which have global consequences.
“World peace cannot be a reality without strategic trust between India and China,” he said.
After arriving in New Delhi on Sunday afternoon, Li held a first round of talks with Singh in the evening and the two held more detailed discussions on Monday.
However,Mr. Li is likely to meet foreign minister Salman Khurshid, Congress party President Sonia Gandhi and senior political leaders from the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party before heading Tuesday to the financial hub, Mumbai.
After wrapping up his visit to India, Chinese Premier is due to travel to neighboring Pakistan before heading to Switzerland and Germany.
Chinese Premier has shown his earnest eagerness towards world peace and good neighborly relations with India with mutual trust and cooperation.
