Merging Kashmir to Pakistan was Jinnah’s old dream

Srinagar: June 09, 2007 – Believe it or not, Mohd Ali Jinnah wanted Kashmir to be part of Pakistan at the time of Partition but due to an express clause imposed by the British Rulers that each ruler would be free to accede to either of the State India or Pakistan, he was left with no other option but to go for Pakistan without Kashmir.
India and Pakistan are now coming closer to each other by talks on Kashmir issue but that is not acceptable to a section of revolutionary muslims, the Al-Qaeda seems to have come forward either to help Pakistan to fulfill their dream in Jammu & Kashmir or to establish their own central command to operate against India.
In this connection, I refer a book entitled "India Pakistan and Muslim Politics by Prof. Baldev, full name Dr. Raj Baldev, published in 1975. He gave in Chapter 5 of the book under the caption : “Pak Attemps to Grab Kashmir”.
“ Kashmir became the bone of contention between Pakistan and India not because it had a predominantly Muslim population ruled by a Hindu Maharaja, but because Kashmir was the State which Mohd. Ali Jinnah had already in mind and when he failed to get it included in Pakistan at the time of partition, he decided to get it ------”
PAKISTAN means:
P for Punjab, A for Afghanistan (North West Frontier Province), K for Kashmir, I for Islam, S for Sindh and TAN means Baluchistan (last three letters).
This idea of Pakistan was first struck to Sir Mohammad Iqbql and he denounced it 1930 at the Allahabad session, but it was later on picked up by Mohd Ali Jinnah, a genius lawyer, who brought Pakistan on the world map.
Jinnah wanted India and Pakistan to live in peace since the Muslim heros were Hindus’s enemies and Hindus’ heros were Muslim’s enemies in the historical pages, both cultures were different and overlapping eachother, hence he wanted Partition for peaceful existence for both, and succeeded, even though Mahatma Gandhi tried to convince Jinnah to drop the idea of Partition but Jinnah was adamant and got Pakistan into a reality.
Since Kashmir had more Muslim population, Jinnah wanted Kashmir to merge with Pakistan being majority muslim populated State and felt that it would serve as a goodwill gesture of a buffer province between China and Pakistan and India and Pakistan. But things did not happen that way.
Now Al-Qaeda has become active to open a new chapter of 'Struggle in Kashmir' and is trying to spread panic on both camps, India and Pakistan, who are trying to solve the Kashmir problem once for you by peaceful means. President Musharaff deserves high appreciations for his best efforts from Pakisatan and Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, India's former PM and Mr. Manmohan Singh, India's present PM deserve high admirations on the side of India. While both the countries are closer to the Kashmir solution, at such a stage, the entry of A-Qaeda may prove damaging to the peaceful cause.
