India vs Australia: March 4, 2013 – Shailinder Sharma – The ever strong 370 run partnership of Pujara`s 204 with Murali Vijay (167) helped India to amass a commanding position of 503 runs , giving the hosts a lead of 266 runs on the third day at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Pujara and Murali helped India to cross the 500-run mark despite losing their last nine wickets for only 116 runs.
Good luck to Indian again, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed David Warner (26) and Phillip Hughes (0) in quick succession as Australia finished the day at a shaky 74 for two in their second innings.
Both Warner and Hughes were alleged to be guilty of trying to sweep Ashwin deliveries.
Following is the score board of the Australian in the second inning at the close of the 3rd day:
Ed Cowan batting 26 100 4 0 SR 26.00
David Warner b R Ashwin 26 56 3 1 SR 46.43
Phillip Hughes b R Ashwin 0 9 0 0 SR 0. 00
Shane Watson batting 9 27 0 1 SR 33.33
Extras:(b 7, lb 6, w 0, nb 0, p 0)13
Total: (2 wkts, 32 ovs)74 RR:2.31
At the close of play, Australia required another 192 runs to avoid an innings defeat, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Co going 2-0 up in the four-match series seemed inevitable.
With still two more days to go, the question now is not how but when will India snatch the match from Australia?
