No VIP tag for actors in future in Tirupati

Tirupati, April 27, 2007 - Tirupati has come under fire by the devotees, who were denied darshan due to Bachchans. On the complaint of devotees, TTD board has ordered a probe on Thursday how Bachchans were treated as VIPs while they do not fall in this category.
However, the TTD Board has decided not to extend VIP treatment to any actor, Industrialist, cricketer etc. in future with immediate effect since they do not belong to VIP class as per the rules of the Triputi mandir management.
The newly-wed actor couple, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan accompanied by their families visited the shrine on Sunday.
Board chairman B Karunakara Reddy told reporters that newly-appointed executive officer K V Ramanachary was asked to probe the “over-enthusiasm” shown by some officials in providing VIP treatment to Aiswarya and Abhishek, which caused inconvenience to other devotees visiting the shrine.
Ramanachary will submit his report within 30 days, he said. Reddy said “VIP-break darshan”, whereby persons are allowed to enter the temple on priority for an hour in the morning and evening, would not be allowed on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The price of the “VIP-break darshans” too was hiked from Rs 200 to Rs 500, and this will come into effect from May 1.
The board also decided to provide a free ‘laddu prasadam’, now sold for Rs 25, to each person standing in the general queue from May 12, the board chairman said.
