US intelligence describes Iraq violence as civil war

Washington, February 3, 2007 - US intelligence is reported to have concluded key elements of Iraq's violence. They have described that state as "civil war.” President Bush does not like to use this term, he wants to show some progress within 12-18 months.
"The intelligence community judges that the term 'civil war' does not adequately capture the complexity of the conflict in Iraq," according to the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) report, parts of which were obtained by Reuters.
"Nonetheless, the term 'civil war' accurately describes key elements of the Iraqi conflict, including the hardening of ethno-sectarian identities, a sea change in the character of the violence and population displacements."
The state of violence is deteriorating day by day and the situation is getting out of control in Iraq. It looks as if the people have lost their peaceful outlook.
