Six nation nuclear Meet to take place with North Korea on Feb.8th MIL/Agencies, Jan 30, 2007. January 30, 2007 - China’s Foreign Minister said that the six-party talks aimed at dismantling North Korea's nuclear weapons would be resumed in Beijing next month. The last meeting was held in Deember after North Korea had raised the stakes by conducting a nuclear test. The group for the negotition is composed of both Koreas, the United States, Japan, Russia and China. China does the obligation of a host of six nation talk. The next meeting would take place on February 8 as per the announcement made in Berlin between the chief US negotiator Christopher Hill and his North Korean counterpart, Kim Kye-gwan. The international community feels satisfield on the progress and hopes that the next meet may prove fruitful. The ministry spokeswoman, Jiang Yu, while announcing said China had an open attitude about the length of the negotiations. "There have been significant contacts between various parties on how to move the talks forward and implement the joint statement," she said. "These contacts have laid the foundation for the six-party talks resuming as early as possible as per the report of Reuters. "... We hope that all sides will continue to display a positive attitude, strengthen dialogue, enhance trust and as early as possible fully implement the joint statement and realise the goal of de-nuclearising the Korean peninsula."
