Varanasi, January 25, 2007 - Elaborate arrangements are on at the Vindhyavasini temple in Mirzapur district ahead of a visit by Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and his family members to coincide with the 51st birthday celebrations of senior SP leader Amar Singh on January 27.
Amitabh, wife Jaya, son Abhishek, daughter-in-law to be Aishwarya Rai, along with Tina Ambani, Jaya Prada, industrialist Subroto Roy and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav will pay obeisance at the temple and bless 51 couples from poor families who will be tying nuptial knots at a function to mark Singh's birthday, official sources said today.
Security arrangements are being made at the temple premises as a large number of people is expected to visit the site to have a glimpse of the stars, particularly Abhishek and Aishwarya, they said.
A grand pandal has been made near the temple for the mass marriages and feast for about 4,000 people.
While four existing helipads are being spruced up, district authorities are constructing three new ones for the dignitaries, as per PTI.
Meanwhile, priest Ramchandra Panda is working overtime to impress the Bachchan family for being granted the opportunity to preside over the rituals. Ramchandra, who claims himself to be from the clan attached to the Bachchan family for nearly a century, has reportedly shot off a letter to the Bollywood megastar's mother requesting her to direct her son to offer pilgrimage under his guidance.
