Bhansali to direct opera in Paris

Mumbai, January 05, 2007 - Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to move into a different direction. He will be in Paris in 2008 to direct an opera.
Bhansali has been signed on by the prestigious opera company Theatre du Chatelet to direct an opera next year.
"It's an honour. I think my operatic mode of story telling in Devdas convinced the Theatre du Chatelet to approach me.
Frankly, I was flattered but unsure whether I wanted to do it. After all a staged opera is an entirely different discipline from cinema."
Sanjay informs that he has always been fascinated by the opera. "The experience would rejuvenate me as a creative artiste, help me connect with creative spaces more openly," he says.
