Durban, December 27, 2006 - Opener Virender Sehwag's dismal run continued as he was dismissed on the first ball he faced in India's first innings against South Africa on the second day of the second cricket Test at Kingsmead here today as per PTI.
Sehwag slashed the ball by paceman Andre Nel into the hands of AB de Villiers at second slip in the very first over of the innings as India took the lunch at 24 for 1 in reply to South Africa's competitive total of 328 all out.
India had seven overs to negotiate before the lunch break but it was enough to send Sehwag packing with the opener slashing at the wide delivery handing over a brilliant catch to de Villiers.
South Africa began with Nel and Makhaya Ntini but just before lunch brought in Morne Morkel as first change in order to rattle the second wicket pair of Wasim Jaffer and Rahul Dravid.
Earlier, South Africa stretched their overnight score of 257 for 8 to a healthy 328, riding on Ashwell Prince's brilliant century, his fifth in Tests, and the resistance from the last two batsmen.
India was surprised to see the resistance come off the bat of debutant Morkel who remained unbeaten on 31 from 52 balls. He smashed three fours while also putting on 39 runs for the ninth wicket with Prince.
