Rahul and Sonia ensure Rae Bareli's progress
MIL/Agencies, Apr 27, 2006.

Lucknow, Apr. 27 - Rahul Gandhi does not give credit to Mulayam Singh Yadav for shaping well of Rae Bareli.  The credit goes to Sonia Gandhi his mother who has done a lot for the betterment of this place over the past two years.

The UP government has not done much for Rae Bareli and has also done little to tackle the important issues like employment, power, roads or water, Rahul declared.

Sonia Gandhi, as an MP of this Constitution and as Congress Leader, has not let Rae Bareli suffer, rather she ensured fully that all the pending development projects would go through and all necessary help would be rendered to them, irrespective of the attitude of the UP Government.  He added:

"Though I am an MP from Amethi, I consider myself to be a representative of Rae Bareli also," he continued. Reminding the audience of his promise made two years ago when he first came to Rae Bareli during the last Lok Sabha election, that he would not discriminate between these two constituencies, Rahul said he felt equally committed towards growth of Rae Bareli.

Yet his role, he said, largely went unnoticed here since he has also remained behind the scene. But you all must know, that I have also lent a hand to the growth here from backstage, he told the audience, as per TNN.

Accompanied by captain Satish Sharma, Rahul began his speech by striking the right emotional note with the villagers. The relationship his family shares with the twin constituencies, Rahul said, was very old.
