Ahmedabad, Apr. 21 - A closer look at Narmada dam demonstrations reveal a deep and confused division among the activists.
In Madhya Pradesh, activists of the Congress party are protesting against the dam, but in Gujarat members of the same party are backing it, as per NDTV.
"What the Congressmen in Madhya Pradesh are doing does not concern us. All we know that the dam is important for our State," said the Congress party chief in Gujarat, Bharat Singh Solanki.
Tulsiram Yadav of the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh says: "What the leaders in Gujarat are doing is for their own benefit".
Religious angle
Religious workers also joined the issue saying the dam has made the pure waters of Narmada river unclean.
"The dam has made the water murky, it has lost its purity. How will we use it for our rituals," said the priest at Omkareshwa Temple, Surendra Kaushik.
