The Pakistan Cricket team has left for Abu Dhabi to play in the two One Day Internationals (ODIs) against India on April 18 and 19.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials said that the national cricket squad led by Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq left for Abu Dhabi from Lahore. PCB Director Operations Salim Altaf also accompanied the team, reports The News.
The Indo-Pak Friendship Cricket Cup, designed by Amit Pabuwal of Jaipur, will enter record books for being the biggest trophy made for any cricket tournament.
The 45-inch tall trophy is made of gold, silver and diamonds with Jaipur's famous meenakari work around.
Pabuwal says this incidentally happens to be the first coloured trophy. There are five players in action at the bottom representing different cricket playing nations. The Indian and Pakistani players are given symbolic colours of their teams - blue and green. They all are playing around five artistic bats, which have intricate designs and are studded with diamonds. The centre part is like a blooming stem unfolding in a flower like platter. This has 10 gold wickets with red ball striking them at from different directions.
Besides, the trophy has flags of countries - the UAE, the US, the UK, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore - where India and Pakistan are scheduled to play friendship series and at the bottom are nationals flags of India and Pakistan and logos of cricket boards of the two countries.
Lastly, what makes this trophy unique is that it weighs 45kg. "The captain of the winning team be it Rahul Dravid or Inzamamul Haq, they will need assistance to lift aloft this trophy, Pabuwal added jokingly.
