King Gyanendra loses his grip on Nepal - masses disapprove him
MIL/CNN/IBN, Apr 15, 2006.
Kathmandu - King Gyanendra made a call for elections in Nepal but all political parties and the people of Nepal look to have ignored his call. No one takes the word of King Gyanendra serious.
The people think that the call by the King is hypocrite, the demonstrations on Friday went on ignoring the pro-democracy call. The reaction of the people shows that the King has lost his intrinsic value and no body seems impressed from him except some religious groups.
As per agencies, fresh pro-democracy protests broke out in the valley on Friday and protesting activists said the King had offered nothing new or substantive. The arrests in the Valley also continued and the riot police arrested nearly 20 demonstrators on Friday.
Scattered protests continued through the day, but were not as intense as in previous days as Friday was the Nepali Hindu New Year day - a holiday. On Thursday night, the embattled King called for general elections in the Himalayan Kingdom, after a week of heightened civil unrest.
However, Gyandendra gave no firm dates and did not appear to go beyond previous promises to resolve a raging campaign against his rule. This irked the masses and the political parties and the dark future of Nepal is insight unless it comes out of the King's clutches.
