Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out of the series opener match against Australia after team physio Andrew Leipus spoke to the captain and coach on Friday in Bangalore where the selection committee is scheduled to meet to pick the team. Sachin was earlier advised not to far for more than 10 minutes at a stretch intially after being off-field for six weeks.
"I have been advised to take gradual steps initially during my practice as I have not played for six weeks and there's some muscle loss (in the left elbow). I can't just go bang bang. I have been advised to bat only for 10 minutes at a stretch to begin with, and not for say two or three hours," Tendulkar said.
Tendulkar has been out of cricketing action since Team India visited Holland for the Tri-Series in last-half of August. It is also suspected that he may miss the Second Test commencing on October 14 in Chennai, unless he recovers in time.
