EC favors Sonia by holding elections in Rae Barely on May 8 ?

Sonia Gandhi's resignation on the ground of holding Office of Profit may prove a great gaining point for the Congress. Sonia is definite to return to the Lok Sabha being held on 8 May.
On Monday, Election Commission announced bypolls to take place on May 8 and counting on May 11 for the Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency and Deeg assembly constituency in Rajashtan.
However, there are serious allegations leveled against the Election Commission that they have taken an undue hurried decision in announcing the bypolls of Rae Bareli, it is probably done just to help Sonia Gandhi but the EC denied that their decision was not taken in a hurry but just within the framework of time and principle.
EC spokesperson Anand Kumar gave an excuse that monsoon is likely to set in after May, the EC, therefore, felt that it would not be possible to hold elections thereafter. Hence, the announcement was made for bypolls on May 8. Over and above, principally the EC is against keeping a seat vacant for long.
This plea given by Anand Kumar is considered weak, since the Supreme Court on Monday told the EC not to be in a hurry to hold elections for the 10 Lok Sabha seats which fell vacant due to the expulsion of MPs involved in the cash-for-query scam.
